Customized Setup in Dover App
Overview
Dover is a startup company focusing on solving hiring pain points for small to mid-size companies. The goal of this project is to enable customization in the current app structure.
My Role
I worked as the Product Designer for the new onboarding and customization. The main goal for this project was to define the key steps to achieve customization and create design accordingly.
Make the system recognizable
There are various methods to achieve customization within an app, the key point here is to make it recognizable for the users within a reachable engineer pathway.
By evaluating the existing app, talking to our users, and talking to different teams within Dover, I’ve found 3 main aspects that could improve the platform customization ability a lot.
Consistency
Set design language to help users self-start faster
Accessibility
Design customizable content in a way users know for sure
Reusability
Create design patterns with the ability to extend and grow
Don’t fold the user abilities even though they originally want automation
I’ve been shadow interviewing our users and summarizing the user journey. Interest enough, users are attracted by the “smart” aspect of the Dover app, while they want customizations as they go.
After the language is set in stone, everything else becomes easier
Creating reusable design components and make everything consistent and in harmony. Unifying the color & font, and enable the team to develop new UI easily.
Unify the onboarding process for mobile and web, and enable customization at the very beginning.
